The titile and the state of mind of my generation is the same.though we d hate to admit it but we are like the boy soldiers of east africa ,warring, fighting for their country.
our lives have been split in 2 parts.:
The moment we opened our eyes, we were in Bombay. the name sounds so inspiring. wish they could chamge it again. going back to being born. as we grew up, we were introduced to the telly. 30 mins of watchtime in 24 hours.only one serial, one news cast and that was that.
we were out cycling, playing, running and tiring ourselves out before we hit the sack @10 pm each night.
we had lovely cricket tournaments, ate 50 paise "pepsi" as we used to call it. funnily, the samossa pav and bhaji pav at our school tasted different too.
we have seen the introduction of the computers,TV, phones, speaking of which, i remember, having a landline at that time was a prestige issue.
i still remmeber the smug faces of the old couple in the next bldg wha had one. we used to go make calkl ,give a rupee each anstill were traeted with disdain.
every monsoons, the lines would die down and we had "tiwariji"or a "mishraji"making a quick buck reoairing them.
the first time I heardor rathger, saw a cell phone,it was a huge piece of equipment, costing bout 1.5 lakhs! pagers came and went.
